It’s tough out there. The June jobs report shows job growth has all but stopped and the unemployment rate is up  to 9.2%.

Listen here to Willie Nile,  a songwriters’ songwriter whose  live performances have been called legendary, perform “Hard Times in America”.

“They say it’s getting better

We’re closing the gap

You know as well as I do

That’s just a load of crap

The rich are getting richer

The poor are staying poor

I do believe the Grim Reaper

Is knocking at the door

Hard times in America, Hard times in America

Hard times in America, Hard times in America”

Ellis, thank you for turning me on to Willie Nile and his in sync tight band.Music has always been my life, City orchestras, High School bands mostly with my violin and piano. I also have about 200 published and copyrighted music reviews. Some bands are under the radar as are adult alternative artists. You have to stumble on them and after that you start being an eternal fan. Now that you have me hooked on Willie here are some others that I have found to be much more adept at song writing and guitar then the tween contestant mosaic now popular in the music industry. G Love and Special Sauce, John Gorka, Steve Poltz, Wensday, Thea Gilmore.

Wille reminds me of a louder Lou Reed in his delivery. he hits the guitar like Greenday but in this case these are jarring and truthful lyrics. Willie’s song reminds me of Bob Dylan’s Hurricane. My dad and I used to see Reuben fight until events ended his career. Bob Dylan is the only artist that can transform himself into voices and characters.Just like Willie, Bob took an inflammatory but current issue and and sent it flying in a creative way. Willie and his band were phenomenal, thank you for informing me.
