Ellis, As you know I own an Internet business and we are in the Electronic Age along with millions of computer consumers. My needs are not like a Blue Chip company but I constantly have the need as students and housewives do for cables, mice, software,equipment, stands,ink into perpetuity. Although I was not a Best Buy customer I was astounded when I heard the news especially in an industry that I thought had no bounds. One observation I have is that Best Buy did dress up their stores and hired Princeton appearance sales help. I go to a mostly minority run computer store maybe five miles further down the road. I consider the prices there better and sales help that are easier to talk to.Not every one lives in a silk stocking district or may care about a store’s wallpaper.Central Point is cut the overhead.

I keep reminding people that if you want to pay 15% tax rate as Romney did buy a portfolio of stocks that pay dividends, single issue bonds or bond funds. Any income from those securities is taxed 15% and you can be Joe the Plumber or anyone. What liberals never say is the risk that Romney is taking.

Ellis,these are some of my observations which may lead to a conclusion that the economy will get worse in 2012. I don’t care if the Dow Jones is at 13,000, that does not mean as much as you would think. The S&P or broader market may mean more and the Nasdaq chimes in. Unfortunately most people are exhilarated by the Dow 30 only. Your stocks wherever they are listed are only on paper. Income you get but the stock does not make you money until you sell it, and most people are smart enough to hold a stock for the future. Time and time again whether part timers or interns are in the 8.3 it does not matter. Thousands are dropouts who are not counted and some economists say we are at 20%. Underpaid is the norm.On top of this if $5 gas comes, we should be talking about $3.89 causing people to stay home.Ellis, you are a great man and a top journalist but I have to tell you it is time for a change. I will tell you that just to go to dinner and the races I need more than $2000. The housing crisis is the root of our collapsed economy. When a family loses market value in the thousands, they cannot sell and walk off with enough money to go somewhere else. The lower the home values the more the sharpies can move in in addition to savvy buyers. The overriding fear of job loss as we saw in the 11,000 who were affected by United Airlines and the 100,000 postal workers transcends into the natural fear of homeowners that results in our onerous housing crisis.

If an individual can achieve deductions and tax strategies that are lawful, they do not have to pay extra. The 15% tax is not applied to earned income or capital gains but to stock and bond distributions. I buy bond funds and live off the income always. It is working sma
