HERE SHE COMES TO SAVE THE DAY
“No more World War II analogies. Real candidates – people with poll numbers, money and real campaigns can’t get on the ballot. There is something anti-democratic going on.” – Ellis Henican
Remember when Hank Williams, jr. compared Barack Obama’s golf outing with John Boehner to an imagined game between Adolph Hitler and Benjamin Netanyahu? Now, Newt Gingrich’s campaign is comparing his failure to get on the ballot for the Republican primary in Virginia to what happened at Pearl Harbor.
Haven’t we had enough with the World War II analogies?

I agree with you completely Ellis and furthermore I do not understand why the celebrities and politicians who say offensive ethnic remarks don’t get it.When I use 20/20 hindsight to determine how careers are affected by inappropriate remarks, I find that demotions, firings and losing tons of money are the repercussions. We are not living in the era of Arthur Godfrey and J Fred Muggs. Today, very few objectionable statements like the Letterman-Palin fiasco are helpful to the originator. Today there are a plethora of advocacy groups and civil rights organizations that will go boycott threat if offended by inappropriate statements.Networks are big business and covet their advertisers. That is why we certainly know decisions in advance.
