“Romney doesn’t even believe it’s worth the effort. I’m not that big a pessimist. The problem I have is when you throw up your hands and say that it’s not worth my time to try.” – Ellis Henican
Two months before Mitt Romney made a much publicized visit to Israel, he spoke at a $50,000 a plate fundraising dinner at the home of private equity manager Marc Leder in Boca Raton, Florida. It was secretly recorded. During the event, a donor asked Romney how the “Palestinian problem” can be solved. Romney asserted that the Palestinians have “no interest whatsoever in establishing peace, and that the pathway to peace is almost unthinkable to accomplish.”
Romney went on to say “I look at the Palestinians not wanting to see peace anyway, for political purposes, committed to the destruction and elimination of Israel, and these thorny issues, and I say there’s just no way.”
White House spokesman Jay Carney is not alone when he stated: “That’s not leadership — that’s the opposite of leadership.”
Ellis Henican joined Chris Salcedo and Lori Lundin of America’s Radio News Network to talk about this, the YouTube video at the heart of the latest bout of anti-American sentiment in the Muslim world, and the dueling election he said-he said tapes.
