“I’m not against politicizing it. Stand up and say ‘Absolutely, I ordered the thing, it went great, and that’s a good reason to vote for me.'” – Ellis Henican
Marking the one year anniversary of the US Navy SEALs’ raid in Pakistan which resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden – the President made a surprise visit to the troops in Afghanistan. His campaign also released an ad highlighting the successful mission and asking whether – in light of comments that lend doubt – Republican opponent Mitt Romney would have made the same decisions.
Senator John McCain, who lost to Obama in the 2008 presidential election, said that the advertisement politicized an issue that should not have been part of the presidential campaign.
“Shame on Barack Obama for diminishing the memory of September 11th and the killing of Osama bin Laden by turning into it a cheap political attack ad,” he said. “He’s doing a shameless end zone dance to help get himself reelected.”
