This was the week that Mitt Romney hit the “magic number” and unofficially clinched the Republican presidential nomination.
That should have been the big political news story. But it wasn’t.
Donald Trump took center stage this week – once again becoming fixated on his theory about President Obama’s birthplace. The big story by midweek week was Trump being told he was “ridiculous” by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
And he didn’t back down. Trump then went on a series of television shows repeating and defending his claim.
This could have been Romney’s week in the spotlight. Could have been.
