What else you got?
Thanks to Cathy Hamerschlag Black, John H. Harris, Meredith Daniels, Sol Auerbach, Michael Spasium, David Winzelberg, Kathryn Pease, Brian Mumpower and a bunch of other twisted people with far too much time on their hands. I’m smart. But not smart enough to dream up so many Wikis on deadline all by myself. Crowd-sourcing rocks!
ASKED AND UNANSWERED:
“Serial Killer on Long Island” – what’s a creepier headline than that? . . . Was Ed Mangano already in the mood to cut $23 million? Or did the imminent arrival of the state monitoring board sharpen the Nassau exec’s budget ax? . . . What superhero powers will it take to save Broadway’s “Spider-Man” in time for its quadrupley-delayed Opening Night? Clearly, that whole Spidey-web thing isn’t enough . . . Cops say the North Hempstead home invader could be getting bolder? As if he’s been bashful up ’til now? . . . How much worse do those counterfeit Alibaba.com guitar strings really sound? A lot worse, say the China-mad employees at D’Addario & Co. in Farmingdale . . . Is it possible the fight over who’s in the State Senate might go past the end of the State Senate term? Craig Johnson’s doing his drag-it-out best . . . Have you heard Peconic Radio at 88.1 FM? Don’t worry, you will . . . Fire-election winners promise fiscal controls? And that makes them different from all the previous winners – exactly how? . . . ? Did famous venomous Gawker just call “Jersey Shore” brawler JWOWW (real name, Jenni Farley) “gorgeous and chic?” Of course she is! She’s from Franklin Square! A well known bastion of gorgeosity! . . .Too dumb even for me: WikiDon’tLoseThatNumber: Cell phone directory. Winzelberg, you know who you are!
LONG ISLANDERS OF THE WEEK
REAL CHRISTMAS GIVERS
This time of year is so rushed, so frantic, so commercial, the real spirit of Christmas is easily overwhelmed—the spirit of unexpected giving. The family from St. Mary’s in Manhasset delivering gifts to a family from Calvary Baptist in Roosevelt. The woman in Valley Stream volunteering in a soup kitchen surprisingly close to home. The thing that draws thousands to the post office for Operation Santa, brightening some kid’s holiday somewhere. The season is upon us. Let the real giving begin.
