Ellis Henican is frequently a member of the ‘Fox News Watch’ panel of media analysts who cover the coverage of the week’s biggest stories.
(Saturday 2:30 and 11:30 PM on the Fox News Channel)
On the July 10, 2010 edition of Fox News Watch, the panel discussed the media’s coverage of the Department of Justice decision not to pursue a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panthers. Samir Shabazz, a member of the group, was outside a Philadelphia polling station in November 2008 brandishing a billy club. Ellis took exception with the panel, pointing out this is not a news story about the history of race or racism in America but is actually a story about the requirements of presenting a criminal case. In another, much older, video Samir Shabazzs is seen calling white people “crackers” and urging blacks to kill them and their babies. Ellis told the panelists that even OLD Black Panthers think “these people are nuts.”
