TALK-RADIO HOST
Assault weapons? Why does anyone need them?
Ellis Henican, hosting the Alan Colmes Radio Show, asked Emilio – who spent eleven years in the military, including a year in Iraq – why he needed a machine gun that shoots grenades on the streets of Salt Lake City.
The caller was in no mood to answer. It is after all, Emilio told Ellis, his 2nd Amendment right to have that weapon and he was not going to tell anyone why he wanted it.

That caller and the poster above me completely miss the dialog we Americans are actually trying to have…
Nobody is coming to take your guns away.
That said, I will explain the dialog in a way that perhaps they may understand.
A citizen of these United States, who chooses not to own/carry a firearm, has every right to feel just as safe as the citizen that chooses to own/carry said firearm. Be it from factions of our own government or random psycho that wants to shoot up a school.
That’s the dialog we are having in this country.
How clever, attacking the man’s credibility by talking to him like a child. This marine(did you thank him for his service?) actually knows clearly that he has rights, as do you or I. You seem ready- so your ignorant dismissal of this caller seems to suggest- that you are willing to give up that right to bear arms, why else would you mock him so roundly?
Emilio correctly began to explain the real reason for the second amendment… to ensure a contingency of americans will remain able to defend themselves if their FREEDOMS are being infringed upon by a tyrannical government, (as in our current overgrown Federal Government on steroids) with a clearly defined “elite” class (which we already have). Armed in the presence of any future unconstitutional government, this contingency will defend and most likely seek to survive and remain free. Imagine that, Freedom trying to survive. In America.
